GRANITES

Granite is nature's gift to itself. Granite can be defined according to two different interpretations. The geologists definition and that of the stone industry (commercial definition). in the industry, granite is defined as any igneous rock suitable for cutting and polishing. Granite are mineralogical aggregates, which change in composition from one variety to another. Granite has greater strength than sandstone, limestone, ans marble and is correspondingly more difficult to quarry.

MARBLES

Marble is metamorphosed limestone, composed of very pure calcium carbonate, CACO3. The softness of marble and its relative isotropy and homogeneity make marble very desirable for sculpture and building stone. Commercially the term marble is extended to include any rock composed of calcium carbonate that takes a polish , and it includes some ordinery limestone's.

MINERALS AND MINING

WHAT IS IRON ORE

Iron ore is the rock which iron is extracted. The iron comes in the forms of magnetite, hematite, goethite, limonite and siderite, and varied colours from grey, yellow, purple and red. Iron ore is also the raw material used to make pig iron, which is one of the main raw materials for making steel.
World consumption of iron ore grows 10% per year on average with the main consumers being China, Japan, Korea, the United States and the European Union. The major producers of iron ore are China, Brazil, Australia, India, and Russia. Iron is the world's most commonly used metal. The main constraint is the position of the iron ore relative to market, the cost of rail infrastructure to get it to market and the energy cost required to do so.
As pure iron is virtually non-existent on earth, all sources of iron used by human industry are iron oxide minerals, mainly hematite. However, in some situations, more inferior iron ore sources have been used by industrialized societies when access to high-grade hematite ore was not available
